Freedom House is a women’s faith-based recovery residence located in Soldotna, Alaska. There is a huge need in the community for such a home! The majority of women accepted into Freedom House will be coming from prisons and rehab facilities. These women are in need of a safe place to live to stay sober and to become a productive member of society. The requirements of Freedom House will provide these women with the life-skills they need to move forward with a clean and sober life while expecting them to pursue a relationship with the One who came that they “may have life, and have it in abundance” (John 10:10).
The building we purchased is 185 Shady Lane. The owner, Sherylnn Erickson and First National Bank have been beyond helpful to get our monthly payment ''affordable'' for a new ministry. It is older and has been sitting empty for several years and is in need of a lot of renovation.
Our current project goals:
Bring the building up to code
Have 10 beds, classroom, kitchen, office, laundry room
and 2.5 baths
The total estimate is over $240,000, however, we have met 25% of this need by fundraising and amazing community members stepping up to donate time and resources!!!
It will give us about 1,000 sq. ft. of rentable office space which is critical to sustain Freedom House.
