Name: Central Peninsula Garden Club Monthly Program: 10 Steps to a Beautiful Garden
Date: October 10, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM AKDT
Event Description:
Visiting a great flower garden brings joy, pleasure, and sometimes a bit of wonder to each of us. But how exactly does a gardener create such a thing of beauty?

Brenda Adams, award-winning garden designer and author, will lead you through the 10 steps to successfully creating a beautiful garden. You’ll learn how to define your goals, study your land, evaluate your soil, and select plants for beauty and ease of maintenance.

Brenda will show you how to combine garden elements for greatest impact and pleasure. By following her simple recipe, your garden can become a place of beauty and wonder, too. Brenda is founder and owner of the local garden design firm Gardens by Design. She is the author of the books Cool Plants for Cold Climates: A Garden Designer’s Perspective (University of Alaska Press, 2017) and There’s a Moose in My Garden: Designing Gardens in Alaska and the Far North (University of Alaska Press, 2013). Brenda was a presenter at the 2017 Northwest Flower & Garden Show in Seattle, WA. She also teaches “Northern Garden Design and Creation” at the University of Alaska. She, her book, and her designs have been featured in The American Gardener, Alaska Home magazine, and the Anchorage Daily News. Brenda will be happy to sign and personalize your copy of her books after the presentation. Bring them along to the meeting!
